The “BIG” Night

Yesterday was the big night for NTU staffs, The Nanyang Awards Night. It’s just one night of event, but my colleagues did OTs after OTs to finish editing the videos for this event. Poor them, I’m not on the main team for Nanyang Awards, but I still have to help out on the actual night. This was my first time attending this award thingy, so I still have no idea on how it goes about. I found out that the award ceremony is only from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
After that is the celebration at the foyer, which only involve one person taking snippets of the performance! So why did everybody say it will end at 10pm? It turns out that they all wanted to stay for the lucky draw, actually our work ends at around 8pm. My first reaction was zzzzzzzzzzzzz….. Little boy left after the awards too, he has another rehearsal to attend to. I was contemplating to leave as well, but everybody was so on and nobody wanted to leave that I felt compelled to stay also. Anyway, the buffet outside was pretty scrumptious, that was even a fondue fountain! But I only ate little bit, cos I had THREE buffets on the day itself already, although this fourth one had much more variety than the previous ones, I simply could not bring myself to eat anymore.
They were suppose to organize this event last year, but postponed to this year but they still named it 2007 =X
I must say that the entertainment at the foyer was very entertaining, not only were there various performances, singing, martial arts, pop dance, etc, there were also booths that provide services like self portrait and calligraphy writing of names, and instant photo taking.
I was attracted by the calligraphy writing and went to queue up, but gave up 5mins later when the queue didn’t even move an inch!

Then I discovered that the lucky draw prices were very tempting, no wonder my colleagues want to stay throughout the event! All in all there were 30 prizes to be won. Prizes include tickets to the Singapore Flyer, few hundred dollars Dining Vouchers for restaurants like swensens, crystal jade, etc, few hundred shopping vouchers at Tangs, Robinsons, etc. I can’t remember all of them, but the top few prizes include a Sony Vaio, Macbook Pro, 2 Ipod Touch, and the Number 1 prize is $5000 in cash!

Needless to say, I won none of them. =(
It was a fun night though, I totally enjoyed myself with all my colleagues as a lot of them turned up even though they were not on duty. The power of $5000!
