Sony XDcam launch

Sep 19, 2007 in Updates

I was at the Sony new XDcam launch at Hilton hotel last Friday. Sony invited our department to attend the launch and five of us went to attend the launch. It’s a very small event, in a small room, with the seminar in front and a few booths behind.

Surprisingly, there weren’t as much people as I had expected. The actual product will only be launch in Nov, and today is just an introduction on the product and to submit bookings if we are interested to buy.

The new Sony XDcam HD uses optical disc-based recording system, and it is equipped with two SxS PRO memory card slots. which can record up to 140 minutes of HD footage using two 16 GB SxS PRO memory cards. They added a new function which is the slide focus ring, which is two independent focus wheel mechanisms that can be switched by sliding the focus ring back and forth. I thought it’s an innovative creation but after playing around with the ring, I find that it’s not very usual friendly afterall, needs a lil bit of polishing.

One new function that I find useful is the Selectable Peaking. It helps the camera operators identify areas in the picture that are out of focus. It can enhance the outline of the image which the camera focuses on most, and changes its color to make it stand out.

All in all, they let us touch and play with the new toy, but ultimately, we will still need to own one to identify its good points as well as the bad ones. Funny thing is, nobody asked about the pricing! So I’m still clueless as to how much it cost…

I saw my long lost lecturer from Np and the terrible technical guys we have to face everytime we book out equipment back in school days.

I took some photos of the launch… got a nice laptop bag as a free gift too!

Haha.. My colleague sent me this today.. =P

The America human-capital-Investment.

The population of this country is 300 million.

160 million are retired.

That leaves 140 million to do the work.

There are 85 million in school.

Which leaves 55 million to do the work.

Of this there are 35 million employed by the federal government.

Leaving 15 million to do the work

2.8 million a re in the armed forces preoccupied with killing Osama Bin-Laden.

Which leaves 12.2 million to do the work.

Take from that total the 10.8 million people who work for state and city Governments. And that leaves 1.4 million to do the work.

At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals.

Leaving 1,212,000 to do the work.

Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons.

That leaves just two people to do the work.

You and me.

 And there you are,

Sitting on,

 At your computer, reading jokes.

 Nice. Real nice

Universal Rules

Sep 12, 2007 in Updates

These are the things everyone experiences but no one finds them in books. I find them quite interesting…

Law of Mechanical Repair:

After your hands become coated with grease, your nose will begin to itch.

Law of the Telephone:

When you dial a wrong number, you never get an engaged one.

Law of the Alibi:

If you tell the boss, you were late for work because you had a flat tire, the next morning you will have a flat tyre.

Variation Law:

If you change queues, the one you have left will start to move faster than the one you are in now.

Bath THEOREM

When the body is immersed in water, the telephone rings.

LAW OF CLOSE ENCOUNTERS

The probability of meeting someone you know increases when you are with someone you don’t want to be seen with.

LAW of the RESULT

When you try to prove to someone that a machine won’t work, it will.

LAW OF BIOMECHANICS

The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to the reach.

THEATRE RULE

At any event, the people whose seats are furthest from the aisle arrive last.

LAW OF COFFEE

As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something, which will last until the coffee is cold

Bad Week

Sep 06, 2007 in Updates

I had a bad start to the week. Sigh. But the good news is at least I submitted 6 articles already! Although they haven’t been approved yet, but at least it’s a start.

I was on 2 days of mc on Monday and Tuesday. I wonder if I gave my colleagues the inspiration to take MC too, cos when I came back on Wed, loudspeaker and little boy went on MC too, one of them 2 days some more.

I’ve been so busy that I can’t even breathe. Old friends has been calling me to meet up, some calls I’d missed and never return, some called occasionally and grumbled that I’m always so busy and always hang up unsatisfied, some who never call but I know deep in my heart that I owe them a catch up. I was hoping to arrange something this week but being such a bad week, with so many last minute stuffs,I have to go home late almost everyday. =(

Next Sat I’m being arrowed for a video shoot at night! Shoot on Sat night! Sianz half…I think it was written all over my face cos little boy asked if I have a date that night, if have he will arrow somebody else.

Little boy: “you sure you ok? I can ask somebody else to shoot if you got par tor you know! The aim of CED is to marry everybody in the department off!”

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…

My only question is: Why me?? **************
