The Difference between theatre and television?

Jul 31, 2007 in Updates

Most of my colleagues are on leave today. It’s a good weather to sleep in, so envy them… It’s only Tuesday today but don’t know why it felt like Thursday to me. Keep having the feeling that tml is Friday.. hrmmm..

Just saw a nick on my msn, “theatre is art, television is furniture?” I’m so surprised that a kid got such complex thinking. I knew this kid through a children’s program that I did last time.

So now the square box becomes a furniture? I’m not surprised. With web streaming so in nowadays, everybody is watching tv programs from the computer. There’s already one fanatic in my house, =P. So what becomes of the television? With our local channels airing outdated variety shows (maybe sometimes still can be entertaining), and cannot make it local productions, people with no cable tv is straying away from the television set. Sometimes, at certain hours of the day, cable tv can be boring too. What will become of the square box in future? It will be just a piece of furniture in the house. Television set manufacturers will still earn but what will happen to local productions in future? Time to buck up with the quality!

Time to find some work to do… I shall post more of my hk pictures tonight.

Ending soon? or starting soon?

Jul 26, 2007 in Updates

These few days has been an interesting experience for me. Don’t be mistaken, the convo is hardly interesting at all. Just that interacting with my new colleagues these few days made me learn some new language from them. They are a funny bunch of people, always cracking me up during the boring ceremonies.

Sometimes we entertained ourselves by capturing the graduates doing weird things while waiting for the ceremony to start and put them on the projection. So funny just by seeing their reaction. Some people just waved at the camera when they saw themselves on screen. There was once when after we played the hp warning, asking them to switch to silent mode, after that we captured a girl trying to make a phone call and put her on screen. Her reaction was so funny. She pouted (??) at the camera and cancelled her dialling.

Today, as usual, we were waiting for the never ending graduates to get their certs on stage. The speaker was reading their names off the list in a weird accent, on and on. And we were stoning in the control room, me doing the titles behind.

Eric suddenly asked,”Is the speaker Thai huh??”

Andrew’s reply: “No, it’s Yamaha.”

We all burst out laughing, then Eric still stare at him for a good 10secs before he replied.

Eric:”Orrrrrrrhhhhh!! No wonder it speak in such a jap way!”

Don’t know if you all can catch the joke or not, but it’s really damn funny at that time man.

It’s been quite tiring to work 12 hours a day though. Everyday when I reach home, my eyes can hardly open. But I’m surprised that I still have not oversleep yet. Maybe it’s the mentality, hrmmm. Tml is the last day of convo! And I already have projects piling up! Maybe convo days are the best, cos can zo bo and minimal politics.. according to the seniors.. well.. we shall see…

1st Day of Convo

Jul 24, 2007 in Updates

zzzz.. I typed this entry yesterday then I just realized that I didn’t publish… well.. here it is..

1st day of convo is over! The most important day of all, the rest of the days can relax liao. So tireddddd…. 12 hours… and 4 more days to go.. but surprisingly, we ended quite early today, at 7 plus.. today quite zo bo, cos i’m newbie so didn’t let me do important stuffs. During the 2nd convo, I was doing vt playback with 3 other colleagues, and we were laughing too loud in the control room then gena complain by an usher. Lucky is usher only. =X So after that we closed our door during live transmission, so paiseh..

Time to go rest.. hope I don’t oversleep tml! Feel so tired!

8 secrets about me! Tagged by Andrew

Jul 22, 2007 in Updates

Since I have been tagged by Andrew on 8 secrets about me, I have to reveal 8 secrets.. hrmmm.. There’s so many secrets… haha.. here goes…

1. When I was 10 years old, I was so into reading story books that everywhere I go, I will be carrying a story book in my hand, even during recess times! My classmates called me bookworm.

2. I was so thirsty for storybooks that I was caught stealing Nancy Drew story books at a 2nd hand bookshop. The store owner only took down my particulars and school, but I lived in fear everyday expecting the principal will call me on stage anytime and cane me.

3. I have stage fright even though I was the stage crew in my primary school for 2 years.

4. When I was 11, my form teacher gave me a dressing down in front of the class when I forgot to bring my consent form for handing in. I cried my eyes out although it’s a small thing.

5. I started smoking when I was 18 and hang out at park lane everyday.

6. I can’t hold my liquor well!

7. I cannot sleep late and wake up early for the life of me.

8. I skipped most of my poly classes in year 2 and almost got debarred.

That’s about it! Tml will be the start of hell week! Pray for me!

p/s: Andrew, you didn’t add my website as one of your links!

My Hectic Weeks (to come)

Jul 21, 2007 in Updates

It’s Saturday! I finally have a little bit of time to blog before I go work. It was a hectic week for me. Got back from hk, rushed some work, then start work at ntu. As they put it, the week that I joined is just nice, they call it hell week. Hah.. if not for andrew, I wouldn’t join so early.. but can see that they are really short handed, they even hired a freelance cameraman for the convo week, and Andrew said that I must be thinking, “shit, should have taken this job before I start work” It’s 5 days with $250 per day, standard. Let’s not try to think about that. First 2 days that I joined was rehearsal for the convo, and we rehearsed until 8 plus on Friday. Lucky can claim cab…

I have to say a big sorry to my internet marketing group mates, because I would be missing in action next week as well. With convo starting in the morning and ending at night everyday, I think I won’t have the time to do a lot of things, including participating in the meetings. I will try to blog every 2 days though, if the com is available =P But I promised I will try my best, if I don’t, may I not be able to get my car!! (this is a very serious sompa ok…)

I didn’t managed to blog on my last 2 days of my hk trip also.. because we went out early n came back late, I will update with photos though. I just uploaded my pics into my com yesterday night, so I will blog about it soon! BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT my groupmate Mr Andrew Choong just tag me on 8 secrets about me! So I will blog about that 1st, the photos have to wait, they are not important la. haha.

I have to go out now.. Will try to blog about that tonight!! (or tml?) Definitely by this weekend! Stay tuned!

2nd Day in Hong Kong

Jul 15, 2007 in Updates

Good Morning!

It’s 10am now, and I’m now in the club lounge using the internet. Yawns.. The breakfast wasn’t enticing at all, it’s just bread and congee. I ate a bit of the tasteless congee, and no, I’m not touching the bread. I’d enough of breads in Cairnes. I probably won’t be eating them for the next 3 months. (I mean the squarish plain bread which can be toasted,  there’s still room for negotiation for other categories of breads, hehe) Probably going to a cha can ting to have a proper breakfast, once sh gets ready.

Was damnnnn tired yesterday. slept 3 hours before flying and didn’t slp at all after that. The weekend is terrible here. It’s practically mountain people mountain sea. Everywhere we go, it’s either squeezing or waiting. We took the mtr and it’s basically just like our mrt. Damn, I was so disappointed. The airport express is much better, probably because it costs more. Went to Causeway Bay Times Square to shop a bit 1st. The clothes wasn’t cheap at all. Some sale. The cheapest item in any of the shops is probably the ugliest piece, and a decent looking piece of top costs ard $30 sing. zzzzz. We walk until sian. Saw a super nice 3 quarter at Armani Exchange but it’s like $100 plus sing. Is that cheap for Armani? I have a nagging feeling that if I buy that, I will come back and discover that SG sale is much cheaper. But I really like that 3 quarter =( .

Anyway it’s just as well, cos even if you want to buy, the fitting rooms queue will scare you off. It’s so damn long, sick of queues man. After the demoralizing shopping, we proceed to take the tram to the peak for dinner. Got queue again!!! We queued for around an hour before we can finally take the tram. And it’s so damn hot. We could have just taken a cab up but sh says it’s traditional to take the tram to the peak and if we take cab, it will lose its meaning. hrmm.

It’s really quite an experience to take the tram though. The ride was so steep that I was afraid that the tram won’t be able to hold up. And the steepness is real real steep. Those standing are like 45 degress tilted to the ground, so we really have to use all our feet strength to hold the ground. My feet was aching by the time we reach the destination.

Wanted to go Lan Kwai Fong after The Peak but there was a bloody long queue (yes! again!) for the tram ride back. By the time we come back, it’s already 11plus. Still early right, but we were tired la, so went back to recharge our energy.

Going to Tsim Sha Tsui today, hopefully got cheaper stuffs!!

I’m in Hong Kong!

Jul 14, 2007 in Updates

I’m in HK now! Finally reached the hotel after 2 hours of waiting. I must say that the public transport here is so convenient! It’s so much nicer than ours, haha. But I’d only taken the airport train express so I don’t know about the other lines. I will find out later.

I’m staying at Eaton hotel and it’s so nice!! We booked an executive room and we have all the privileges of using the club lounge, which includes free internet access, breakfast, and cocktails in the evening. Their swimming pool is located on the 21st floor!! Shiok ley!! (I don’t know why I’m so excited cos I don’t swim =X) If only I swim… I will be able to enjoy the view while swimming……………. *daydream*

Now waiting for our room to be ready… after putting our baggage, it will be shopping time! Will try to update tml if I have the time ;p

p/s: The weather is a killer. It’s 32 degrees in Hong Kong! Heat stroke!

My Bad Habit

Jul 13, 2007 in Updates

I was just having lunch at home just now and I discovered that I have a bad habit. I like to leave the table numerous times while eating, and it only occurred when I’m eating alone. (or with my grandma =X) Sometimes during dinner with my family, I will leave only a few times, or maybe just once. I will do random things like checking on my files downloading, grab a tissue or just sit in the living room, watch tv for a while, then go back to the table and continue eating.

Is it normal? Why aren’t there any pyschology tests on this? I receive so many emails on psychology tests that ask you to choose on eg, how you undress, folding your arms to see if you are left brain or right brain.. etc etc. Then they will analyse your character for you. I find them only 50% accurate most of the time.

I’m still packing while typing this post. I’m almost done! Oh yes, I’m sorting pictures from Cairnes taken by the volunteers. I haven’t got the pro photographer’s pictures yet cos he was late and I gotta leave early that day. Most of my pics are in his camera so I will probably get his pics and post them up together with the volunteers’ one. Patience is virtue!

Random Thoughts

Jul 12, 2007 in Updates

I suddenly realized that there’s no lack of jobs in this industry, even though it’s so damn satuated. From the time I decided to go full time, I have rejected a total of 6 days worth of job. It’s ok, I’ve decided to do full time so I’m still ok if I don’t count the money. But I have 2 more full time job offers within this week. Sigh

Enough of that, I haven’t been blogging for a while because there were some hitches when setting up this blog, now everything seems to be ok, hopefully…

One more day before I leave for HK, and I still haven’t typed my invoices and pack my lugguage, and after I come back, I can say bye to my freedom! So I shall enjoy while I can~
